I am writing this piece with a bit of impatience. I know I have a small yet tuned-in audience that expects me to post with at least a hint of some consistent manner. So as I find myself stricken by a small dose of writer’s block, I am fighting through it by using the simple technique of utilizing my mind over the substance of things that do not matter. I apologize in advance if I go off on a few tangents that make little to no sense. There is always so much splendid beauty that rests in an atrium full of words; sometimes you have to look deep to find the message. Riddle me this and I will riddle you with thought.

The mind is a muscle that can manipulate whatever you think matters. The most important piece to this puzzle is the process in which you think. If you belligerently believe you can accomplish something, with enough willpower, self-discipline, and time you will achieve it. The human mind has the power to overcome any obstacle that it views as a threat to its well-being. We as humans are all fashioned to create, in some shape or form. There is a simple formula that one can use to bring a solitary idea to boundless animation. A thought is the inception of an idea. The creation of imagination is when craft is used to take that thought and generate its development by anticipating the idea into actuality. We then use a tool we are all blessed with called creativity to put the procession of an idea into action with our desire to make it part of each and everyday’s existence. There will be multiple deterrents that deviate the mind into thinking that the idea will not develop itself organically, this is when our heart and soul; join the dance and apply the force of focus and innovation that manufactures the mind as being capable of anything, hence this impatient post. There isn’t any hocus pocus entangled with this omnipresent ethereal force of nature. It is based solely on the psychological process known as mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the process of bringing one’s attention to the internal and external experiences occurring in the present moment. It can be developed through the practice of meditation and other techniques. It is a genuine feeling of joy and happiness. It can be described as paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgment. I believe that we should all practice mindfulness this day and age. There is so much bullshit that surrounds us that the only way to genuinely be content with ourselves is by living in the present moment. We need not worry about what affairs we have no control over. The only thing we will ever have true control over is our own thoughts and feelings. There is a two-component model of mindfulness that was introduced by a group of psychologists back in 2004. It states that the first component is when we must self-regulate our own attention, in order to maintain living in the immediate experience. This allows an increased recognition of mental events in the present moment. The second component says we should adopt a particular orientation towards our own experiences; this orientation is characterized by curiosity, openness, and acceptance. You may translate however you see fit. The way I see it is as follows.
We must become aware of the present moment by paying close attention to the way our thoughts and emotions change from moment to moment. We do this by regulating our focus of attention. Then we must maintain a consistent curiosity about these thoughts and feelings experienced in different moments, and become aware of when our wandering mind escapes its focus as to what matters. The only way to truly harness this sensation is by giving notice only to the meaningful thoughts and feelings as they arise in our stream of consciousness. We must also learn to neglect the thoughts that are layered with negativity.
This is not as easy as one may consider it to be. We have to practice day in and day out to experience complete mindfulness. Some have tried their entire lives and still can’t quite grasp the concept. There are so many bells and whistles to everyday life that it is hard for us to focus on just ourselves and in the present moment. The simplest way to practice the art of mindfulness is just to take a deep breath and focus on your own energy. It’s amazing what a deep breath can do to the spirit inside. Then again sometimes I should just shut up and drive. Take a deep breath. Till the next time. Enjoy the ride.
